General Assembly Majority Leader Joe Roberts Honored

May 17, 2004 - The Friends of The State House honored Assembly Majority Leader Joe Roberts, at the Lafayette Yard Marriott Conference Center in Trenton at 6PM.

Majority Leader Joe Roberts, a Democrat representing the 5th Legislative District, has been an active and distinguished member the New Jersey General Assembly for the past fifteen years. Currently serving as Majority Leader of the General Assembly, his previous posts include Ranking Democrat and Budget Officer on the Appropriations Committee, minority member of the General Assembly Task Force on Funding, the Racing Industry Study Commission, Committee on Energy De-Regulation, the Assembly Local Government Committee, and as past chair of the Assembly Financial Institution Committee. The Majority Leader has also acted as long time Co-Chair of the bi-partisan South Jersey Legislative Delegation.

The Friends of the State House is a non-profit group organized for the celebration of the state capitol building's bicentennial in 1992. Contributions from dues-paying members and other fund-raising efforts make possible the group's newsletter and public programming. In addition, the Friends have underwritten the purchase and donation to the State Archives of historic documents related to the building of the State House.
